Liar, liar...

One of my students said that he had read in his book through Chapter 16. The sad part of that problem is that the book only has 15 chapters! When confronted about it, he has the nerve to say, "Oh! I knew I read too far!" Oh yikes...

Grace - by Laura Story

Laura released her new CD last week -- Great God Who Saves -- amazing, amazing album. (She's the worship leader at my church, a friend, and someone I admire -- and not just because she went to CIU!) I've been listening all week and wanted to share the lyrics to one of my favorites....Grace. The other one I love is Make Something Beautiful -- maybe I'll post that one at another time...

Grace

My heart is so proud, my mind is so unfocused.
I see the things you do though me as great things I have done.
And now you gently break me, then lovingly you take me,
And hold me as my father and mold me as my maker.

And I ask you how many times will you pick me up when I keep on letting you down
And each time I will fall short of your glory
How far will forgiveness abound
And you answer, “My child, I love you and as long as you’re seeking my face
You’ll walk in the power of my daily sufficient grace.”

At times I may grow weak and feel a bit discouraged
Knowing someone somewhere could do a better job
For who am I to serve you I know I don’t deserve you
And that’s the part that burns in my heart and keeps me hanging on

Chorus

You are so patient with me, Lord

As I walk with you I’m learning what your grace really means
The price that I could never pay was paid at Calvary
So instead of trying to repay you
I’m learning to simply obey you
By giving up my life to you for all that you’ve given to me.

Amazing how often that seems to happen?!? or "How to Know that our Culture in no longer Biblically Literate..."

Last Friday before class we were discussing plans for the weekend. When I mentioned that it was Easter, one of my eighth graders said, "Oh, is it on Sunday again this year?"
